Not sure what your homeschooler should be learning in language arts, or what to teach next? This printable Language Arts skill goals guide lays it all out: Georgia’s education standards and reading research, put in the order kids actually learn these skills, in plain language.

Made by a homeschool mom of neurodivergent kids who couldn’t find one clear document showing which skills to expect, and when.

✏️ WHAT’S INSIDE (33 pages)

Why I created this guide + how to use it • Notes for neurodivergent kids (dyslexia, dysgraphia, ADHD, autism, gestalt language processors) • PART 1: 13 Skill Ladders, each listed in research-based learning order: Sounds (phonological awareness) · Letters & print · Phonics & decoding · Spelling · Word study · Fluency (with reading-speed norms) · Vocabulary & background knowledge · Comprehension (stories, nonfiction, poetry, figurative language) · Speaking & listening · Grammar · Writing & research · Handwriting & keyboarding · Reader & writer identity • PART 2: One-page Grade Snapshots for kindergarten through 8th grade • PART 3: My Kid’s LA Plan worksheet + progress notes page

✏️ HOW IT HELPS

Find exactly where your kid is. Check “Not yet,” “Learning,” or “Got it” for each skill • Spot gaps, even when your kid is ahead in some areas and behind in others • Answer “What should a 3rd grader be doing?” at a glance • Focus on the next 3 skills instead of everything at once • Georgia families: makes your annual progress report much easier to write
